We have crossed the line of complete absurdity. AI influencers… A computer-generated character advertising products for skin-care. This is pathetic.
Let’s look at this from the perspective of young men and women. They are bombarded with photos of picture-perfect models all day, which pretend to be real human beings, whenever they open their phone (which we all do quite often). How will this affect their well-being mentally? When the border between reality and digital fantasy world starts to blur, it is not a joke.
Think about a young girl seeing these photos. She understands they aren’t real women. But over time, it has sunk into her that this is how I should really look like. It has been modelled after real human being after all! And this real fashion model isn’t too far from this AI woman, right?
She buys the products the robots advertise, because she feels it is a way for her to be just as appealing. When she looks in the mirror, she will always be disappointed, because no one can ever be such a perfect picture all the time. She looks at the boys around her, following these unreal women on Instagram, looking at her just because they can’t access these imaginary robots. She feels she’s always the second option, when better isn’t available.
How about the boys? Their minds get destroyed. Once they get used to the unrealistic photos, they can’t find any real girl attractive anymore. What’s worse, they start to think about women only as objects, because the AI models they follow don’t have real lives, they only talk about empty words with no meaning behind them. Women become simply objects of pleasure. All the things that make them human beings are pushed aside, and only the outer picture shows.
I created this artwork to remind you; look behind the surface. Do you find something with no emotions, no regard to your well-being? Or do you find a soul capable of love and care?
