Illustration of Sir Winston Churchill

This was the last artwork I created in 2025. The idea came from a question: what kind of artwork would communicate the qualities in inspirational people I have come across?

Abstract, perhaps… But I wanted a representative piece for this topic. So I began to think of someone who could act as a symbol for inspirational qualities.

This symbol I found in Sir Winston Churchill. On the outside, he was a strong figure who could speak very entertainingly, who stood strongly behind his values, and who didn’t back down in times that must’ve seemed quite hopeless.

Although I don’t know who he really was behind the mask he showed to the outside world, I have an ace up my sleeve!

I searched for images of his paintings. He was a skilled artist who painted especially landscapes. When I look at them, I see glimpses of his personality. Or perhaps, even something deeper.

Distant View of the Pyramids stands out to me from his works, painted in 1921. I find a story of hope and bright future in this painting, but it’s a good distance away. However, the characters in the foreground seem eager to get to their destination.

Perhaps Sir Winston could point this kind of beautiful destination to others around him, and awaken the enthusiasm within them? If so, he’s certainly the right choice for this illustration!
